SFs strike it rich with arrest of 5 UGs

Imphal, February 18 2015: Based on specific intelligence regarding movement of UG cadres, troops of the 45 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) launched an operation in the general area of Mantripukhri and apprehended one PREPAK cadre today.

A statement issued by the PRO of IGAR (S) identified the apprehendee as No 305, Batch No 36, pvt Abdul Rasid alias Abu (27) S/o Abdul Khalik alias Nurul of Sangaiyumpham, Pulle Part I, Imphal West.

The apprehendee has been handed over to Heingang PS.

In another operation, troops of 45 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) established a vehicle check post at Khabam Lamkhai and apprehended two PREPAK cadres today.

The apprehendees were identified as Ngairangbam Samarendra Singh (45) S/o Ngairangbam Ibomcha Singh of Khamnam Makha Leikai, Imphal West and Hijam Nobin Singh (31) S/o Jiten Singh of Wakha Maning Leikai, Imphal West.

The apprehendees have been handed over to the Heingang PS, it said.

Meanwhile, a team of Imphal East district police commando, while conducting frisking and checking based on reliable information at Wangoi Thounaojam Leikai on Feb 16, arrested two active cadres of KCP (Noyon) namely Longjam Salejudge alias Ibothe (24) s/o L Nawang Singh of Wangoi Thounaojam Leikai and Samom Davidson Meitei alias Dev (22) s/o (L) S Chaoba Meitei of Langthabal Lep Makha Leikai.

According to a statement issued by the PRO of Police Department, one Chinese made hand grenade, five M-16 ammunition, and two US carbine ammunition were seized from the possession of Samom Davidson Meitei.

Further, from the disclosure made by Longjam Salejudge Singh, another cadre namely Athokpam Chinglemba Luwang alias Bocha (43) s/o (L) A Ajitkumar Singh of Wangkhei Ningthempukhri Mapal was also arrested.

Investigation revealed that Davidson lobbed grenades, planted IEDs in Wangoi area.

He along with Salejudge extorted huge amount of money from various shops in Imphal city for party fund.

A case has been registered at Wangoi PS and investigation is on, it added.
