Workshops, capacity building programme held

A 1-day capacity building programme on "Innovation Packaging for Export of Ginger, Turmeric, Large Cardamom and Bamboo Shoot Pickles" was successfully conducted today at the Farmers' Training Hall, Department of Agriculture, Manipur in Sanjenthong.
The programme was jointly organised by the Department of Horticulture & Soil Conservation, Manipur, Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA)and the Foundation for Innovative Packaging and Sustainability (FIPS), Mumbai.
The collaborative effort reflected the shared commitment to empower farmers, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders of the horticulture sector with modem knowledge and practical skills in packaging, a vital step toward ensuring quality, extending shelf life, and accessing global markets.
Athui Pamei, Commissioner (Horticulture & Soil Conservation), Manipur; Dr N C Saha, former Director, Indian Institute of Packaging, Government of India and chairman, FIPS, Mumbai; K Debadutta Sharma, Director, Department of Horticulture & Soil Conservation, Manipur; and Sadeep Saha, Regional Head (NER & Ladakh), APEDA graced the programme as presidium members.
Subhas Bhattachajee, former Managing Director, NERAMAC and advisor, Patanjali Foods Ltd; Md Asraf Kamal.
Business Manager, APEDA; representatives from Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs), Department of Horticulture officials and entrepreneurs also attended the programme.
Moreover, Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) and Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), GP Women's College jointly organised a 1 -day workshop on "Combating gender based violence: Strategies for prevention and support" at the college's library hall today.
It was attended by Thumlip Tiningpham Monsang, Chairperson, MSCW; Prof L Rajen Singh, Principal, GP Women's College; Dr Nalini Nongmeikapam, Coordinator, ICC, GP Women's College; Dr Waikhom Mema Devi, president, GP Women's College Alumni Association; MSCW Members T Chuongsin Koireng, Lourembam Dayabati Devi and Sk Sophia Moyon as presidium members.
Meanwhile, the workshop on "Rites-de-passage of Sanamahism" organised by the Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board (LSTB) in collaboration with Manipur University of Culture (MUC) continued for the 12th day at Lainingthou Sanamahi Sanglen, Haying Khongban Uphong Yumpham, Imphal.
Today, the workshop featured an insightful lecture by Tringson Saka Maring, cultural activist from the Maring community, on the topic "Maring-gi Chatnabigi Luhongba" .
