Nupi Kanglup demands unconditional release of protestors

Sagoltongba Mamang Leikai Nupi Kanglup has demanded unconditional release of the 8 protestors including three juveniles who were arrested by police on Saturday.
Speaking to media persons today at Sagoltongba Mamang Leikai Community Hall, Nupi Kanglup's secretary Chongtham Memcha said that after the news of recovery of bodies of six abducted women and children emerged, a joint meeting of Meira Paibis and leaders of local clubs from different areas of Konthoujam Assembly Constituency was held yesterday.
She shared that following the resolution taken by the meeting to pressure the local MLA to clarify his stand on the tragic incident, a large number of people accompanied by Meira Paibis visited the residence of Health Minister Dr Sapam Ranjan at Konthoujam.
She continued that after reaching the Minister's residence in Konthoujam, they were told to come to the Sanakeithel's residence of the Minister on Sunday.
"A heated argument erupted between us and the people who were there at the Minister's residence over some issue.
The argument led to the unfortunate incident and arrest of 8 persons including 3 juveniles by the police", she added.
She appealed to the Minister to consider the sentiments of the people who were shocked and anguished by the brutal cold blooded murder of the 6 women & children, and release the 8 protestors on humanitarian grounds.
Chongtham Memcha further warned of launching an intense stir if the 8 protestors are not released at the earliest without any condition.
Sukham Sanahanbi, president of Women & Child Development Association Sagoltongba Awang Leikai was also present at the press conference.
