Media sensitization programme kicks off

A 2-days media sensitization programme on "Horticulture schemes" kicked off today at the Loktak Hall of Manipur Press Club, Majorkhul.
The programme was organised by All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) under the aegis of Directorate of Horticulture & Soil Conservation, Government of Manipur in connection with the Golden Jubilee Celebration of AMWJU and Manipur Press Club (MPC).
The inaugural function was attended by Horticulture & Soil Conservation, Director, K Devdutta Sharma; ICAR NE Regional Centre, Imphal, Principal Scientist, Dr I M Singh and AMWJU president Bijoy Kakchingtabam as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, K Devdutta Shanna stressed on the importance of organising such media sensitization programmes and the role of media in spreading awareness about the schemes launched by the Government for the welfare of the public.
"The media and Departments of the Government of Manipur should work in close coordination to ensure that the public may avail the benefits of the various schemes/programmes initiated by the Government', said K Devdutta while commending AMWJU for its role in promoting awareness about organic farming practices to the public.
Dr I M Singh also highlighted the crucial role of horticulture & agriculture in boosting the State's economy and called for prioritization of organic farming.
