Tribute paid to Jadonang, Gaidinliu

Imphal, August 13 2026: Patriots' Day was observed on Thursday with solemn tribute to freedom fighters Haipou Jadonang and Haipei Rani Gaidinliu for their courage and resistance against colonial rule.

Speakers recalled Jadonang's role in awakening self-determination and dignity, and Gaidinliu's legacy of resilience that made her a symbol of faith and freedom.

The tribute stressed that their sacrifices are part of India's broader freedom struggle and transcend community lines.

Hill Areas Committee Chairman and Nungba AC MLA Dinganglung alias Dipu Gangmei led the event.

ST Morcha, BJP Manipur Pradesh also joined to pay homage.

The programme urged youth to preserve their legacy and draw inspiration from their courage and love for the nation.
