JAC formed against rehab inmate's death

Thoubal, June 13 2025: In connection with the controversial death of an inmate of a de-addiction cum rehabilitation centre at Narankonjil Makha Leikai under Wangoi police station, in Imphal West district, on June 11, a public meeting was held at the deceased locality Haokha Mamang Leikai community hall on Friday.

During the meeting, the JAC against the mysterious death of Sanasam Jackson Singh was formed, followed by the meeting attendees blocking half the road on NH-102 t stage a sit-in protest.

The protestors held placards inscribed with slogans like "We condemn Jackson's death", "We want justice", and "Produce the murderers" .

Speaking on the sidelines of the protest, JAC convenor Yumnam Ratan raised suspicion over the circumstances surround the death of Jackson alias Achou.

He informed that various agitations would be launched to ensure justice is served in Jackson's death, in addition to submitting a memorandum to the Governor through DC Thoubal on Saturday.

Appealing to the people for support in preventing such incidents in future, Ratan also urged the authorities concerned to deliver swift justice in Jackson's death, while adding that the body would not be claimed until then.

Mention may be made that Achou was found dead hanging at the rehabilitation centre.
