CorCom blames Cong for Manipur situation, re-iterates warning
Source: Hueiyen News Service

Imphal, January 13, 2012: The Coordination Committee of seven UG groups (KCP, KYKL, PREPAK, PREPAK (Pro), RPF, UNLF, UPPK) in a press statement alleged that the Congress governments in the Centre and Manipur are the main culprit behind the destruction of the Manipuri society.

Alleging that the two Congress governments lack principles and they do not keep their word, CorCom stated that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Chief Minister of Manipur Okram Ibobi are Fathers of The Memorandum of Understanding.

Under the Congress governments, many innocent persons were killed mercilessly and people in the state are living their lives with a constant fear in their minds.

In the past one year, the only reason for decrease in killings of innocent people is the ensuing general election.

Once the election gets over and if Congress government returns .in the state, the killing will automatically resume.

The ministers of the Ibobi government are taking the law into their own hands.

The government did not properly investigate the shooting of Advocate General and it even gave bail to the son of a minister who shot an innocent civilian over nothing.

As long as there is Congress government in the state such killing of innocent people will continue, it stated.

The influx of non Manipuris have risen manifolds during the reign of Congress government in the state.

There were times when no non Manipuris were provided bus tickets to enter into the state.

However, the CM Ibobi has been planning to arrange settlement for the non Manipuris by instituting Crisis Management Commission.

As a result the non Manipuris have managed to get a stranglehold on the economy of the state.

The indigenous people will be outnumbered by the non Manipuris by 2014 when trains reach Manipur.

When people of the state, both hills and valley, were facing acute shortage of essential commodities and prices shot up skyhigh during the 120 days economic blockade, the two governments in the Centre and State did nothing to bring relief to the people of the state.

Even the Union Home Minister P Chidambaram who came during the blockade did not say anything to stop the blockade showing clearly the mentality of the Centre towards the people of the state, it alleged.

The Congress governments did not develop human resources during their stint in the state.

Many well educated youths of the state are left stranded.

All the educations they got in their studies went into vain in the state.

Many poor parents who want to see their sons and daughters as a successful person and play a significant role in the development of the society got dejected by the poor policy of the Congress government.

While many government schools are sinking, many private schools are rising which has caused major problems in the education and careers of the poor students.

All these issues are not seen or are simply ignored by the Congress governments both in the Centre and State.

Despite of this situation, if the people of the state again support Ibobi and bring him to the Chair of Chief Minister again, Manipur will become a laughing stock for other states and countries, it stated.

Only if the state can survive on its own without much helps from outside, blockades will cease to pose a threat to the sustainability of the people of the state.

On the other hand, the Congress governments are not taking up any economic development programme in the state which is the most important aspect of development in today's pace of globalisation.

In such world, it is very important for the people of the state to form and maintain its own economy based on the natural resources of the state to make the state a self reliable one.

Unfortunately, the Ibobi led Congress government in alliance with the Congress government in the Centre have been ignoring this fact and will continue to do so.

People of the state, especially the farmers who constitute the 70 percent of the total population of the state should ponder over the question, whether the Congress government took up any developmental programme for the farmers.

The Agricultural sector can be further developed into the level of industrialisation and make it a major source of national economy of the state.

By bringing development in the agricultural sector, the state can become self reiliant in terms of food.

However, the Ibobi led Congress government does not have time to think such projects which resulted into the sinking of the sector in the state making it more and more dependent to outer helps in terms of food.

It is the bounden duty for the people of the state to save Manipur from the clutch of Ibobi and the Indian government until it is too late, it stated.

While intensifying its restriction over the Congress party, the statement again warned the Congress workers to refrain from participating in election related activities for the Congress party.

It also warned the women who guard the candidates in the name of Meira Paibi to stop such acts and also asked not to participate in house campaign and other election related activities.

It also warned of capital punishments for active workers, persons who set up polling booth, those who distributes cash and polling agents if they do not stop their activities immediately while stating that the CorCom has a complete list of Congress workers.

It also asked the people of the state to stay away from the protests staged by some vested interested persons against the restriction of CorCom and further stated that the CorCom will also look after such protests from now on.

It also warned the candidates of the ensuing elections not to form alliance with Congress either before or after the election.

If anybody is found forming alliance with Congress, he will also be treated as a member of Congress party and CorCom will also take up actions against him.

Clarifying its decision to ban Congress Party, the statement further added that the restriction imposed over the party was based on the active role of Congress Party in the forced annexation of Manipur into the Indian Union and the present status and activities of the party against the ongoing revolutionary movement.

It also stated that the decision of the CorCom has nothing to do with the fate of the party in the election.

Those who stand against the restriction of the CorCom will be dealt with even after the election is over, it added.
