Imphal, August 12 2026: Security forces seized a variety of contraband items during separate operations at multiple locations in the State today.

According to a police bulletin, an individual was arrested along with 33 soap cases containing suspected brown sugar weighing around 474 gram from Lower Mission Veng in Churachandpur.

The arrested person has been identified as Thanglamkhup Manlun (45) of Bolkot village, who is currently staying at Tuinom Village in Churachandpur.

One Hyundai Creta was also seized from his possession, the bulletin said.

In a separate operation, a team of the Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB) arrested one Ahmad Hussain (44) of Keirao Makting Awang Leikai along with 45 gram of heroin from Irilbung in Imphal East.

Another NAB team arrested one Laxman Rasally (26) of Lairouching, Senapati Karong, and seized 1,908 bottles of cough syrup containing codeine along with a Tata truck bearing a Nagaland registration number.

He was arrested from Khabam Lamkhai in Imphal East.

A joint team of Heingang police and Imphal East commandos, meanwhile, arrested three persons along with 142 bottles of codeine based contraband items during an anti-narcotic operation at Mantripukhri yesterday.

The arrested individuals, according to police, have been identified as Mohammad Akilur Rahaman (28), Aribam Iftar (21) and Md Iqubal Khan (44) .

Imphal East commandos also arrested one woman along with 22.75 Kg of ganja from Sekta Awang Leikai yesterday, police added.

The woman has been identified as Oinam ongbi Tenden Devi (27) .
