MLA to try and convey message of people to PM

Imphal, September 11 2025: Wangkhei AC MLA Th Arunkumar has stated he will convey the aspiration of the people to Prime Minister Narendra Modi if the latter allocates time to meet the MLAs during his visit to Manipur.

He made the statement during a National Builder Award distribution ceremony organised by Rotary Club of Polo City, Imphal at Classic Grande today.

Addressing the function as chief guest, Arunkumar said that the MLAs have been trying to meet the Prime Minister following the eruption of the crisis on May 3, 2023.People have been expressing discontent over the Prime Minister's absence from the State, he said and added that they, the MLAs, have been sending letters to the Prime Minister Office (PMO) and the Union Home Minister's office to convey the people's sentiments.

He stated that the Prime Minister may meet the MLAs during his visit according to BJP North East-in charge Dr Sambit Patra.

The MLA also expressed belief that the Prime Minister will surely take up necessary steps to install a popular Government in the State after seeing the situation here.

Arunkumar, meanwhile, lauded the Rotary Club for honouring teachers with the Nation Builder Award.

The recipients of the award include RK Nirmala and Sarangthem Memtombi of Wangkhei School, Tourangbam Tangjamba Meitei of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Awasiya Vidyalaya, Sorokhaibam Barlin of Western Standard High School and Yumnam Bobycha and Maibam Devaraj of Waikhom Leikai Upper Primary School.

Dr RK Ratankumar, president of Rotary Club of Polo City Imphal, said that the role of teachers in building a vibrant society is immense and the award was given in appreciation of their service.

He added that the awardees were chosen after taking feedback from the students.
