Many condole demise of Ima Mangol

Imphal, August 11 2024: The Nupee Khunai Meira Paibi along with the Meira Paibee Numit Observation Committee (Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur, AMAWOVA and MEPWAK) have expressed deep sorrow and condolence over the untimely demise of Ima Wairokpam Mangol.

Ima Mangol, a prominent leader and lifetime president of Nupee Khunai Meira Paibee and advisor of Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur (PLMPAM), passed away on August 9 due to an illness.

Ima Mangol was a key figure in the women's movement against drugs and human rights violations since the 1970s.Throughout the 1980s, she was at the forefront of protests and advocacy efforts addressing the challenges faced by the society.

She also played a crucial role in mobilizing women's organisations against the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) .

A condolence meeting was held at the office of Meira Paibee Numit Observation Committee in Khuyathong today.

During the meeting, the gathering shared the grief of the bereaved family and observed two minutes of silence to pay respect to the departed soul.

Moreover, the Nupee Khunai Meira Paibi also extended its solidarity to the bereaved family and prayed that the departed soul may rest in peace in the heavenly abode.
