UCM launches farmers training programme

As part of its year-long Silver Jubilee celebration marking 25 years of service, the United Committee of Manipur (UCM) organized a one-day farmers training programme today at Charangpat Mamang Leikai Community Hall, Thoubal district.
The program organized in collaboration with Department of Agriculture, Government of Manipur, featured a host of dignitaries and experts, including YK Dhiren, president of UCM; Thongam Joyprakash, District Agriculture Officer Thoubal; Sairem Manglemba, chairman UCM Charangpat unit; Sagolshem Joychand, chairman Administrative Committee Charangpat GP as presidium members along with Ksh Nimaichand, Senior Nodal Officer MOBCD; L Sanatomba, Retd AO Soil Scientist; Y Indramani, Nodal Officer RKVY; and Y Imomacha, Assistant RKVY as resource persons.
Speaking at the event, UCM president YK Dhiren emphasized the importance of sustainable farming practices.
He encouraged farmers to adopt modem and scientific agricultural practices that not only protect health but also enhance crop productivity.
He said that as part of the one year long Silver Jubilee celebration, UCM plans to undertake a series of initiatives including, farmers training, awareness campaigns, entrepreneur training, medical camps, and more, all geared toward the welfare of the local communities and called for public support.
Later as part of the program, the farmers were distributed sprayer pumps at subsidized rates.
