Free aids, assistive devices distributed to senior citizens, persons with disabilities

Bishnupur, October 08 2026: Free aids and assistive devices were distributed today to 545 beneficiaries of senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs) of Thanga Assembly Constituency.

The distribution programme was held at Keirenphabi Maning Leikai community hall.

The aids and assistive devices were distributed under the Assistance to Disabled Persons for Purchase/fitting of Aids/Appliances (ADIP) and Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY) Scheme, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment Government of India.

The distribution programme was jointly organised by Office of the MLA 28-Thanga AC, Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), District Administration Bishnupur, Social Welfare Department, Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development Rehabilitation & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (CRCSRE) Imphal and District Disabilities Rehabilitation Centre (DDRC) Bishnupur.

MLA Thanga AC T Robindro Singh; Sub-Divisional Officer Moirang Ch Somarendro Singh; Deputy Director (Disability) Social Welfare Department Manipur L Dhaneshore Singh and Director CRCSRE Takyel N Khoibi Singh attended as the presidium members of the programme.

The distributed aids and assistive devices includes wheel chair, tricycle, walking sticks, knee belts, hearing aids, chair/stool with commode, teaching learning material kit, sugamya cane, lumbosacral belt, crutches and walker.

Speaking as the chief guest, Thanga AC MLA T Robindro asserted that the Government aims to provide due benefits of all the Government schemes to the eligible beneficiaries so as to promote well-being of all sections of the people.

He called upon the public to check the relevant criteria of the various Government schemes and apply to receive the benefits.

The MLA also assured to organise free eye medical camps in the coming days.
