JAC warns of agitation if Swami Sapam murder case remains unsolved

The Joint Action Committee (JAC) formed over the killing of 26-year-old Swami Sapam of Thoubal Leishangthem Kelimakhong has warned of launching various forms of agitation from July 10 if the authorities fail to identify and arrest those responsible by July 9.The warning was issued by JAC co-convenor Oinam Ibopishak Singh during a sit-in protest organised by the committee at Leishangthem Kelimakhong Community Hall on Wednesday.
Ibopishak said Swami's lifeless body was found near the Khekman Ningthibi Khong Canal after he was brutally murdered on the morning of July 5.He said the JAC has pressed the Chief Minister, Deputy Commissioner of Thoubal and the Superintendent of Police, Thoubal, to conduct a thorough investigation into the case and ensure the arrest of the culprits by July 9 .
He said that if the authorities fail to make any breakthrough within the deadline, the JAC, in association with local residents and civil society organisations (CSOs), will launcsh intensified agitation from July 10.Roshibina, wife of the deceased, said her husband had left home for work on the morning of July 5 but was later found dead under tragic circumstances.
Expressing grief over the loss, she said the family has been left devastated and appealed to the Government to arrest those involved at the earliest and ensure they are brought to justice.
