MSF submits memo to Governor, Education officials

The Manipuri Students Federation (MSF) has submitted a memorandum to Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla and important education officials including Education (S) Director, Secretary, SCERT Director and COHSEM and BOSEM Chairman urging them to implement the resolutions adopted at the recently held discourse on educational textbooks and manuals on April 4 .
The resolutions include formulation of syllabus/manuals suitable for Manipur society and their appropriate implementation in the school curriculum; drawing up of guidelines to address the heavy school bags which impact both the physical and mental wellbeing of students; implementation of the first and second resolution in CBSE schools in the State and ensuring that students have the option to learn in Manipuri medium upto Class V, preferably till Class VIII, in line with the NEP 2020 guidelines.
At a press briefing held at MSF Office, Kwakeithel Thounaojam Leikai, general secretary Sundar Khuman said that MSF has consistently advocated for a "common syllabus" for both private and Government schools.
MSF general secretary urged the authorities to create a curriculum framework for NEP Preparatory Stage (3 years) Class III to V; Middle Stage (3 years) Class VI to VIII and Secondary Stage (4 years) Class IX to XII .
He also raised a call to make the opportunities under NEP 2020 to be made available in all educational institutions.
