Deeksharambh Students' Induction Programme begins at MU

Imphal, November 06 2025: Manipur University (MU) inaugurated the 2nd edition of Deeksharambh Students' Induction Programme 2025 on Thursday at the University Auditorium.

As per a release issued by Manipur University, the two-day programme is being organised for newly admitted first-semester students across various departments and programmes of the university.

The inaugural session was graced by dignitaries, including Prof N Lokendra Singh, Vice-Chancellor, MU; Prof S Jibonkumar Singh, Dean, School of Human & Environmental Science; Prof N Basanta Singh, Dean, School of Engineering; Prof Sumitra Phanjoubam, Dean, School of Mathematical & Physical Sciences; Prof Memcha Loitongbam, Dean, School of Social Sciences; Prof M Premjit Singh, Registrar.

MU; Prof Laishram Rajendrakumar Singh, Finance Officer, MU; T Shantikumar Singh, Controller of Examinations, MU; Prof Ch Ibohal Singh, Dean, Students' Welfare & Librarian (i/c), MU; and Nongpoknganba Yambem, president, Manipur University Students' Union 2025.The programme began with a welcome address by Prof Ch Ibohal, who encouraged the students to familiarize themselves with the university's systems, ethos, and available resources.

Delivering the keynote address, Prof N Lokendra congratulated the new students for securing admission through a rigorous process and highlighted the university's commitment to providing a balanced platform of academic and co-curricular activities.

He encouraged students to take advantage of the foreign language courses offered at the university to enhance their employability and assured meaningful academic engagement with MU's experienced faculty members.

Prof Sumitra Phanjoubam discussed the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 for postgraduate programmes and highlighted the employ ability benefits of Value-Added Courses offered at MU.

Prof Memcha reaffirmed the university's commitment to inclusive education and equal opportunities for students from diverse social and economic backgrounds.

Prof A Rajmani Singha, Director, IQAC, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the genesis, growth, and structure of Manipur University, highlighting its key facilities and initiatives.

The event also featured a musical presentation of the Manipur University Anthem by the student choir from the Department of Dance & Music, followed by an audio-visual showcase of university facilities prepared by the Educational Multimedia Research Centre (EMRC), MU.

More than 1,000 newly admitted first semester students attended the inaugural session of the induction programme, which aims to provide new students with a comprehensive understanding of the university system, available opportunities, and pathways for skill development and academic excellence.
