JAC threatens Tiddim road bandh

The JAC against the killing of Siaklalzawm has today threatened to imposed an indefinite Tiddim road bandh from Wednesday if the MR personnel who hit Siaklalzawm and another man in December last year with a motorbike fails to settle the case or in case the Government fails to book and suspended the MR personnel from his service.
Siaklalzawm Vaiphei (40) and one of his friend was knockdown by a motorbike on the night of December 17 at Kwakta Turel Mapal.
Though the friend escaped with minor injury, Siaklalzawm was severely injured.
He was initially taken to a hospital at Moirang, by the motorist whom the JAC has identified as Salam Biren, a sepoy with the 1st MR and a resident of Ningthoukhong, but was later taken to RIMS, Imphal where he succumbed to his injuries at 3.14 am.
Biren's family had agreed to compensate Siaklalzawm's family.
The next round of negotiation was scheduled for December 21, 2015 but no one turned up on the day.
On August 3, 2016, some people from Biren's side came and made an agreement to pay Rs 2 lakh to the deceased's family by (Friday) August 5, 2016.However, nobody turned up on Friday forcing the people from Kangvai area to constitute a JAC, JAC members informed.
The JAC will impose an indefinite bandh on Tiddim road from Wednesday if the case is not settled at the earliest.
