Imphal, March 05 2025:
The Court of Special Judge POCSO Imphal West has remanded a Constable (Driver) of 109 Battalion of CRPF in judicial custody on the charge of sexually assaulting a minor girl in December last year.
Accused Faruk Abdullah (35), s/o Osman Gani of Barpeta Assam was produced before the Court today on completion of his police custody period by a team of Imphal West women police station with a prayer to send him to judicial custody.
A case was filed against the CRPF Constable after the mother of the victim complained that the accused inappropriately touched her minor daughter near the CRPF camp gate in December last year.
The girl managed to escape and initially remained silent due to fear.
The CRPF personnel allegedly grabbed the minor's buttock and tried to embrace her from behind while she was returning home with study materials.
The mother came to know that her minor daughter had been assaulted and immediately reported the incident to a high-ranking CRPF officer on December 27 last year, seeking necessary legal action.
During interrogation, the accused has partly accepted the charges levelled against him.
The police also submitted that the accused may intimidate the minor victim and try to influence key witnesses if he is set free at the present stage of investigation.
The Court after hearing the submission of the Special PP and on perusal of the case record remanded the CRPF personnel in judicial custody till March 19 for smooth investigation of the case.
