Seva Sankalp Abhiyan: Run, awareness programme organised

Kakching/Kangpokpi, October 04 2026:
To commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and as a part of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan 2026, the Kakching District Police under the supervision of the District Administration Kakching today organised 'Dawn Run Kakching' with two separate events - 13 km 'Culture Dash' and 7 km 'Fun Run' .
Deputy Commissioner Angeline Renita R, along with Superintendent of Police Priyadarshini Laishram, flagged off the 13-km 'Culture Dash' and 7-km 'Fun Run' events respectively, with the 13-km run starting from the SP Office and covering up to Sora Bazar, while the 7-km run covered the route up to NRL Oil Pump, Kakching Lamdong.
Hundreds of fitness lovers from different age groups participated in the events.
In the 17 km run in male category, Mashunngam Muinao won the first place while Yumnam Punshiba Singh and Mutum Mukta Singh were declared second runner's up and third runner's up respectively.
Tayenjam Russia Chanu was declared winner, Tongbram Sophia Chanu got second position and Staveniya Yumnam Chanu was placed third in the 17 km Run in female category.
In the 7 km Run, Md Irfan Khan bagged the first place, while Moirengjam Tarun Singh and Md Abid Khan were placed second and third place respectively.
Another 50 consolation prizes were also distributed to the runners to honour and uplift their morale for participating in the event.
Meanwhile, Seva Setu Abhiyan camp will be held tomorrow at Waikhong Ningthoumanai Lairembi Shanglen from 11 am to 3 pm as an initiative to deliver Government services at the doorsteps of the citizens.
Beneficiary enrolment/verification, documentation and application of various Government schemes of various departments will be provided under one roof at the outreach camps.
Also, free health camps will be conducted at the venue.
Kangpokpi
As part of the observance of Seva Sankalp Abhiyan 2026, the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Kangpokpi, Department of Social Welfare organised an awareness programme on Child Protection at Phunal Maring Community hall, Island Sub-Division, Kangpokpi.
During the programme, key issues relating to child protection mechanisms, child marriage, child labour, child trafficking, abuse and exploitation, and the importance of timely reporting of cases involving children were highlighted.
The programme was attended by Reena Chanu Moirangthem, District Child Protection Officer (DCPO), Kangpokpi; M Leimatombi, District Programme Officer (DPO), ICDS, Kangpokpi; and Th Yaima Maring, Secretary, Village Authority as the presidium members.
The awareness programme concluded with a renewed commitment from the participants to work collectively towards protecting the rights, dignity, safety and well-being of children and building a child-friendly and protective community in Kangpokpi district.
