Imphal, April 04 2026:
The Khwairamband Ima Keithel Joint Coordinating Committee for Peace has extended aid to those affected by the Kuki-Naga conflict, distributing necessary relief materials through the Joint Relief Committee of the Naga People's Union at a community hall in Tangkhul Avenue.
M Ngranmi, convenor of the Naga People's Union Imphal, expressed immense gratitude for the support from the women of Ima Keithel, viewing it as assistance for the Naga community affected by the violence.
He emphasized the aid is for the victims in affected areas and a humanitarian gesture.
Ngranmi also highlighted the ongoing tensions leading to displacement and victims on both Kuki and Naga sides, urging public support.
He mentioned the current situation where Nagas in villages and districts bordering Kuki areas are living in tension, children are missing school, women cannot go to work, and men must guard villages, leading to shortages of daily essentials and medicines.
He alleged that Kuki militants are still firing in areas like Sinakeithel, Litan, Wakhong, and Konsakhul Liangmei, while the army remains silent.
Laishram Mema, convenor of the Khwairamband Ima Keithel Committee, stated that indigenous communities can no longer afford to be divided by caste or tribe.
She stressed the urgent need for indigenous people to live together peacefully as outsiders are trying to take over their land.
Mema claimed that recent events clearly show who the indigenous people are and who the outsiders are, accusing the Central Government and forces of conspiring to suppress the indigenous population and failing to stop Kuki militants.
She called for all indigenous people to unite and defeat this conspiracy.
