Imphal, March 04 2025:
Taking strong exception to the leakage of Class X and XII question papers, the Manipur Pradesh Youth Congress Committee (MPYCC) and the State unit of National Students' Union of India (NSUI) have urged top officials of COHSEM and BOSEM to step down on moral ground.
The officials in question include the Commissioner of Education (S) and the Chairmen of the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BOSEM) and the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur (COHSEM) .
Despite the controversy surrounding the leaked exam papers, the authorities concerned haven't taken any decision on re-conducting the examinations for the affected subjects.
MPYCC and NSUI contended that the failure to prevent the question leak has not only compromised the fairness of the examinations but also caused inconvenience to thousands of students.
In this regard, NSUI, Manipur has submitted a memorandum to Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla today to book and suspend the BOSEM and COHSEM Chairmen and hand over the cases of the question leak to CBI.
The student's wing of the Congress party also urged the Governor to implement strict measures to conduct the examinations in a fair and transparent manner.
Copies of the memorandum have also been submitted to the Chairmen of COHSEM and BOSEM.
Speaking to the media after submitting the memorandum, MPYCC president Wahengbam Anand said that the leak which has sparked widespread outrage may not have been just a coincidence, but rather an inside job.
Saying that such irregularities demoralise the hard working students and the same should not be taken lightly, Anand maintained that the failure to prevent the leak warrants the resignation of the Education (S) Commissioner and the Chairmen of COHSEM and BOSEM.
The leak of Class X and XII exam question papers, afterall, is a direct affront to the student community, he said.
Anand also emphasized that the focus should be on apprehending the masterminds behind the exam leak, rather than some small fishes.
Stating that compromising students' futures is unacceptable, he cautioned that undermining the Education sector will have far-reaching consequences for the State's future.
