Relief materials distributed to flood victims

Moirang, June 03 2025: In a bid to provide some relief and alleviate the problems caused by the devastating flood, the MLA of Nambol Assembly Constituency, Th Basantakumar in collaboration with District Administration Bishnupur have distributed various relief materials to the flood affected victims of Bishnupur district today.

A team led by SDO Nambol, T Shyamkumar, in the presence of SDC Nambol, Th Sambhunath, president of BJP Nambol Mandal, A Jiten for the first phase, distributed edible items like rice, salt, edible oil, lentils, etc to the 197 families who were affected by the flood at Nambol Sabal Leikai Community Hall.

Speaking in this connection, BJP Nambol Mandal, A Jiten said that initiative of providing the relief materials to the flood affected victims of Nambol AC has been launched under the guidance of MLA Nambol AC in collaboration with District Administration Bishnupur.

Even though prior steps like dredging of river beds, cleaning of canals, etc were taken up by the MLA Nambol AC to prevent flood situation in the constituency.

The recent overflow of water from Kha Jiri under Konthoujam Assembly Constituency and from the newly constructed canal of Wakching river from Balaram and Senapati side has flooded Nambol Sabal, Nambol Konkham and its adjoining areas causing severe distress to the people of the areas, said Jiten.

For the past many decades Nambol AC has always suffered with flood problems, however due to the effort of MLA and his team during the past couple of years, even though water level runs above danger mark it has not breached at any particular areas, said Jiten.

The SDO team along with BJP Nambol Mandal also visited the affected areas of Nambol Maibam and took stock of the situation.
