IDPs, Tronglaobi bodies demand clarification

Imphal, October 02 2026: Following the arrest of two Kuki terrorists by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for their alleged involvement in killing two sleeping children and grievously injuring their mother at Tronglaobi, a large number of IDPs today staged a protest demanding a concrete clarification from Chongtham Bijoy regarding his claim on the Tronglaobi terror attack.

Several organisations based at Tronglaobi have also demanded a clarification from Chongtham Bijoy.

Speaking to media persons by the sideline of the protest held at Tribal Market, New Checkon, one IDP Huirongbam Ajit said that the NIA has arrested two Kuki terrorists suspected to be involved in the Tronglaobi terror attack of April 7, 2026 .

Chongtham Bijoy had claimed that 'some elements' were involved in the terror attack which killed two sleeping babies and grievously injured their mother.

But the NIA has arrested two Kuki terrorists for their involvement in the particular attack.

As such, Chongtham Bijoy must come out with a clarification regarding his bombastic claim at the earliest, Ajit said.

He said that Chongtham Bijoy's claim will have far-reaching consequences and ramifications.

Now it is crystal clear that the terror attack was carried out by Kuki terrorists and the two sleeping innocent children were murdered by Kuki terrorists, Ajit asserted.

Meanwhile, a joint press release issued by Women Self Development Association (WSDA), Tronglaobi Awang Leikai; Tronglaobi Youth Association, Tronglaobi Awang Leikai; Youth Development & Cultural Association, Tronglaobi Makha Leikai and Tronglaobi Makha Leikai Women Welfare Association have asked Chongtham Bijoy to come out with a clarification by October 7, 2026 .

S Palal Thadou Kuki and Thangmang Haokip have been arrested by the NIA for their involvement in the Tronglaobi terror attack.

Soon after the terror attack, Chongtham Bijoy claimed that people from nearby areas and the valley were involved in the attack.

Chongtham Bijoy went on to claim that he carried out an investigation for over 20 days and he knew the people from the valley who were involved in the terror attack, recalled the joint press release.

It then asked Chongtham Bijoy to name the people from the valley who, according to him, were involved in the terror attack at the earliest.

If he cannot name those men, he (Chongtham Bijoy) must come out with a clarification and tender an apology to the people by October 7, 2026, the Tronglaobi bodies said.

They further urged the Government to pull up and prosecute all the terrorists involved in the terror attack at the earliest.
