Counselling and job screening programme conducted at Oriental College

The Career Counselling Guidance and Placement Cell (CCGPC) of Oriental College, Imphal organized a "Counselling Programme and On-Campus Screening for Job Assistance in BPO Sector" today.
According to a press release issued by Dr S Ranjit Singh, Principal, Oriental College (Autonomous), the programme was organised for the sixth semester students and alumni of the college in association with Helping Hands Career and IT Solutions Limited (HHCITS) Pvt Ltd Imphal, with whom the college had previously signed a MoU to collaborate in the field of skill development and employability enhancement opportunities for students.
Kongkham Biplob Singha, Coordinator of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and convenor of CCGPC presided over the programme which aimed to equip students with the necessary skills and insights to secure employment in the booming BPO sector.
The participating students benefited from both the counselling sessions and the subsequent screening processes.
In addition, the event featured several key speakers, each bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience.
Notably, Ch Ronika Devi, General Manager of HHCITS, provided a comprehensive overview of the BPO industry, highlighting current trends and future prospects.
Albin Shinglai, Operations Manager at HHCITS, delved into the technicalities of the sector, offering practical insights and guidance.
Meanwhile, K Solomon Meitei, a seasoned BPO Instructor, focused on the essential skill sets required to excel in BPO roles, emphasizing communication and technical proficiencies.
Lastly, Kongkham Biplob Singha underscored the importance of expanding employability options for students and maintaining a robust academia-industry interface to ensure students are well-prepared for the job market.
Following the technical session, students participated in on-campus screening sessions conducted by HHCITS Imphal for their onward placement and training opportunities.
These sessions also provided students with the procedural and technical knowhow for interaction with potential employers, offering a valuable opportunity to showcase their skills and secure employment.
The program was a resounding success, marking a significant step towards enhancing employment opportunities for students in the BPO sector.
