LDA Chairman takes hands-on approach to transforming Waishel Maril stream

Chairman of the Loktak Development Authority (LDA), M Asnikumar Singh, embarked on a 15 km long comprehensive inspection and review of the ongoing cleanup efforts along the Waishel Maril (Waishel Stream) today.
Beginning his assessment at Kwakeithel Konjeng Leikai & Mongshangei Maning, M Asnikumar engaged with technical staff from fee LDA and SDC Hiyangthang, overseeing the meticulous removal of waste and floating biomass.
During his visit, M Asnikumar had the opportunity to interact with local communities who expressed their profound appreciation for the earnest endeavors to restore the Waishel Maril.
One senior citizen, aged 70, from Konjeng Leikai, remarked that in all his years, he had never witnessed such a concerted effort towards fee stream's cleanliness.
Continuing his inspection along fee length of Waishel Maril to Sanjenbam under Nambol Constituency, the Chairman met with community representatives, including the esteemed Pradhan of the area, N Birjit.
The enthusiastic response from the local community underscored the progress achieved in this vital endeavor.
In a gesture of gratitude, the Chairman extended his heartfelt thanks to Th Basan taku mar Singh, Minister of Education and MLA of the area, along with his team and dedicated volunteers for their unwavering support throughout the year-long collaboration with the LDA in cleaning the Waishel Maril in Nambol area.
The Chairman affirmed his commitment to directly brief Chief Minister N Biren Singh on the ongoing efforts and the critical condition of the Waishel Maril.
Furthermore, M Asnikumar issued a heartfelt appeal to the citizens of the State to embrace better waste management practices, cultivate environmental consciousness, and prioritize environmental education and awareness.
Recognizing the escalating impact of climate change, he underscored the imperative for adopting sustainable practices to mitigate the increasing frequency and intensity of extreme weather events.
