NSCN-IM condemns

Ukhrul, April 30 2025: The National Socialist Council of Nagalim (Isak-Muivah), has strongly condemned what it describes as a "deliberate violation" of the Agreed Ground Rules under the ongoing ceasefire agreement with the Government of India (GoI) .

The NSCN-IM response comes, in the aftermath of 29 April, 2025 in Assam's NC Hills region (ELOI HAU Battalion), where three Naga Army cadres were allegedly killed by Indian armed forces.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP) of the Government of the People's Republic of Nagalim (GPRN), the group described the attack as an "illegal and provocative" act carried out by Indian Army personnel in what they referred to as "Naga territory" .

"This is a deliberate breach of the jointly established Agreed Ground Rules to maintain peace during the sensitive ongoing political negotiation period," the statement read.

Citing clause (a) of the ceasefire agreement, the NSCN-IM reiterated that the terms explicitly prohibit offensive operations such as ambushes, raids, or attacks that could lead to loss of life or property involving the Indian Army, paramilitary forces, and police.

The group said that these forces are also expected to avoid causing any form of harassment, damage, or injury to civilian populations.

"The Indian State has chosen to discard the ceasefire terms," the NSCN-IM claimed, asserting that the incident not only violated these rules but also threatened ongoing peace efforts.

Calling for an immediate cessation of hostilities, the NSCN-IM urged the Indian government to respect the ceasefire and engage in dialogue to prevent further escalation.

The group also appealed to the international community and monitoring bodies to intervene and take note of the alleged violations.

"Our commitment to peace remains unshaken," the statement concluded, "but we reserve the right to take all necessary steps to protect our people and territory from acts of aggression" .
