Lions Quest: Poster competition, awareness programme on SEL held

Lions Club of Imphal Leimarol organised an "awareness programme on "Lions Quest programme for Teachers and Students with special emphasis on Social Emotional Learning (SEL)" at Tamphasana Girls Higher Secondary School, Imphal today.
As per a release issued by the Lions Club, the programme began with a welcome address by Memyo Ningombi, president, Lions Club of Imphal Leimarol highlighting the importance of observing 'Rohit Mehta Lions Quest Week' .
Delivering the keynote address, Dr Vinita Devi Elangbam elaborated on the Lions Quest programme which is effectively used by many schools globally, giving a positive impact on students, teachers and even the families.
Resource persons Dr Konika Khuraijam, Principal, DM College of Teacher's Education, gave a talk on "Core principles of SEL" while Nandini Thockchom, PRO LC Imphal Leimarol had an interactive session with the students on SEL, conflict resolution and responsible decision making.
Moreover, the Lions Club of Imphal, Lions Club of Imphal Valley and Lions Club of Imphal Valley Nextgen jointly organised the "Rohit Mehta Lions Quest Programme 2025" at Ananda Singh Higher Secondary Academy, Imphal today.
At the event, Lakshmi Roy, co-chairperson Lions Quest Committee, District 322D shared that Rohit Mehta, the first Indian to become the Lions International president was instrumental in starting the Lions Quest Programme.
Dr Ranita Athokpam, State Nodal Officer, National Mental Health Mission, delivered a lecture on the topic "Adolescent Mental Health" .
Neera Maisnam, Principal, Ananda Singh Higher Secondary Academy conveyed her appreciation to the three Lions Clubs for organising the Lions Quest programme in the school.
As a part of the programme, a poster making competition on the theme, "Responsible Use of Social Media" was also conducted.
Roshi Sapam, Mercy Kamei and Pshishubam Resham secured the 1st, 2nd & 3rd positions respectively in the competition.
Notably, Lions Quest is a comprehensive social and emotional learning programme designed to empower youth and promote positive behaviors among students and integrates social and emotional learning, character development, and substance use prevention through a series of thematic units and lesson plans.
The programme is structured to support students in developing essential life skills, fostering healthy relationships, and making responsible decisions.
