Protest in Jiribam demands full fledged district hospital

Jiribam, August 29 2024:
The District Hospital Monitoring Committee, Jiribam organised a sit-in protest demanding upgradation of the hospital to the status of a full-fledged district hospital, elimination of "in-charge culture" and opposing the removal of the previous CMO of the hospital.
The protest which was held in the vicinity of the 50-bedded hospital at Ningsingkhun was participated by Jiribam CSOs as well as meira paibis.
Speaking by the sideline of the protest, Ph Mantesori, executive member, District Hospital Monitoring Committee, Jiribam shared that according to relevant officials, many doctors and medical staff consider Jiribam as a punishment posting and refuse to be transferred here.

Expressing disquiet over such prevailing sentiment, she added that despite meeting with the Health Minister and other concerned authority at Imphal recently and apprising them of their grievances, they have not received a proper response.
If the concerned authority fails to address the grievances of the Jiribam public, then more intense agitations will be launched, she cautioned.
The protestors held many placards with messages such as "Uproot in-charge culture", "Accord full-fledged district hospital status", "We oppose removal of former CMO", "Appoint new MS" among others.
