Shifting its priority from strengthening the Legislature, Executive and the Judiciary, the Congress led SPF government, in its next term, will give priority to making Manipur a self reliant state, announced Chief Minister O Ibobi.
Speaking on the occasion of 126th foundation Day of Congress at Congress Bhawan, Imphal today, Chief Minister O Ibobi said that as a part of strengthening democratic institutions in the state, the SPF government has constructed the Capitol project and the High Court buildings.
He also observed that the SPF government had always worked for the equal development of the hills and the plains.
The SPF government constructed Mini Secretariats at the District level as a part of its process of strengthening the democratic institutions of the state.
He expressed optimism that at least 40 to 45 candidates of Congress would come out successful in the coming Assembly election and would be able to form a government on its own but he also did not rule out Congress forming a government with other like minded political parties.

Welcoming criticism from opposition parties, the Chief Minister said that its has helped the party to learn from its own mistakes and come out with better policies and programmes for the welfare of the people.
He also appealed to the general public to give more strength to the Congress and help the party in providing electricity to the people for at least 18 hours daily and adequate drinking water.
Delivering the Presidential speech, MPCC President Gaikhangam said that the Congress party is the oldest and the most responsible party in the country.
It is a party established on the foundation of secularism and democracy and has been serving the people for the last 126 years.
He further stated that the Congress party this time will fight the Assembly elections on the plank of overall development of the state and safeguarding its territorial integrity.
As a part of the function, a two minutes silence was observed and floral tributes were paid to the departed souls of the Congress workers.
Gifts were also presented to the aged Congress workers of the state.
A book entitled "Congress amasung Kangla" written by Vidyapati Senjam, General Secretary, MPCC was also released on the occasion.
