According to a release issued by MASLSA, the 7-days long training programme which began today will conclude on October 4, 2024 .
20 Judicial Officers and 45 Advocates are participating in this framing course.
In the inaugural ceremony, Justice A Guneshwar Sharma, Judge, High Court of Manipur & Chairman, High Court Legal Services Committee stated that not all the disputes need to be resolved through the Courts which is often expensive and time consuming.
"The state of Tripura has double the strength of Judicial Officers than the State of Manipur in spite of having almost the same population.
Thus, for the State of Manipur, it is best to resort to Mediation for settlement of disputes instead of going to Courts which are already overburdened due to less number of Judges", he added.
He also appealed to the public to explore alternative methods such as Mediation and Lok Adalat for settlement of their disputes which not only save time but also resources.
"Most of the disputes such as civil cases, matrimonial disputes & petty family disputes can be resolved through Mediation.
Settlement through alternative dispute resolution such as Lok Adalat & Mediation leave no grudges or hard feelings among the parties as they are settled amicably and through the consent of both the parties", he asserted.
