Speaking on the occasion, former Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh expressed happiness and privilege in taking part in the Eid Namaj prayer.
Extending his greetings on the occasion of the sacred festival, he appealed to the people of Manipur to continue living together with love, peace and harmony as they have coexisted since time immemorial.
He stressed that while every individual should remain faithful to their own religion and beliefs, all communities must acknowledge and respect every religion equally.
Recalling the spirit of unity enshrined in the Constitution of India after Independence, Ibobi said all citizens are Indians and should coexist peacefully without discrimination on religious grounds.
Stating that no religion teaches hatred, he urged the people of Manipur to stop animosity and mistrust among communities.
He noted that conflicts and infighting would never bring solutions to the prevailing issues and maintained that peace could only be restored through mutual trust, dialogue and understanding.
Appealing for unity and brotherhood, the former Chief Minister urged all communities to strengthen harmony and work collectively towards bringing lasting peace to the State.
