Awareness / UDYAM registration drive held at Heirok

A one-day awareness-cum-UDYAM registration drive was held on Tuesday at Heirok Part I Laikon Maning Community Hall.
The programme was organised by the District Industries Centre (DIC), Thoubal and Kakching under the Raising and Accelerating of MSME Performance (RAMP) Scheme, aimed at promoting local entrepreneurs and supporting sustainable business practices.
Speaking as the chief guest, Dr Meitram Uttam, Lead District Manager of Thoubal, stressed the need for citizens to take precautions against financial digital fraud, which has become increasingly common in today's digital era.
He highlighted the importance of UDYAM registration, noting that it is essential for those seeking recognition from the MSME sector and for availing various government benefits.
Dr Uttam also elaborated on several government schemes, including the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), under which individuals aged 18 to 70 can avail benefits of Rs 2 lakh in cases of accidental death or total disability, and Rs 1 lakh for partial disability, all for an annual premium of just Rs 20.He further explained the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), which provides life insurance coverage of Rs 2 lakh for individuals aged 18 to 50 at an annual premium of Rs 436, linked to bank accounts and covering death due to any cause.
Additionally, he informed participants about other welfare and financial support schemes such as the Kishan Credit Card for farmers, Mudra loans for business persons, and various MSME-related initiatives including PMEGP, PMFME, PM-Vishwakarma, PM-Svanidhi, and CMESS.
The session concluded with detailed interactions aimed at helping participants understand and access these schemes effectively.
The event was also attended by DIC Thoubal and Kakching, General Manager S Nabakunja; Food Safety Officer Thoubal, Athokpam Brojendro; and Development Officer of DIC Thoubal, Oinam Deben.
