Congress organises "OBC Haq Ki Hunkar" campaign

Imphal, September 26 2026: A State-level orientation programme as a part of the "OBC Haq Ki Hunkar" campaign of the Congress was held at Congress Bhavan, Imphal today.

The programme was organised by the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee's OBC Department.

The "OBC Haq Ki Hunkar" is a Nationwide campaign demanding a caste census with a dedicated column for OBC in the data collection to ensure fair and accurate enumeration of the population of the backward communities.

At the event, Congress Legislative Party leader MLA Keisham Meghachandra said that the OBC communities have been deprived of their rights under the BJP-led Government.

He urged OBC communities to unite and join the campaign, and teach the "double-engine Government" a lesson.

MPCC OBC Department chairman Jakir Ahmed said households belonging to the OBC category having no reliable source of income are suffering.

Like the SC and ST communities have Acts to safeguard and protect them, the OBC communities should also have a dedicated Act of their own, he said.

The OBC Haq Ki Hunkar is a 100-day campaign pushing for upliftment of the OBC communities.

During this campaign, various programmes will be held to disseminate information on schemes related to OBC, and raise issues facing the communities, he added.

MPCC vice presidents Bidyapati Senjam, E Jiten, former MLA Md Amin Shah, former MLA Laishram Radhakishore, Wahengbam Ranjit and other party leaders attended the event.
