Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrated widely

Imphal, July 26 2025: Joining the rest of the country, the District Administration, Imphal East today observed Kargil Vijay Diwas at the District Conference Hall in honour of the brave soldiers who laid down their lives during the Kargil War of 1999.The observance was led by Dr Nivedita Lairenlakpam, Deputy Commissioner, Imphal East, who highlighted the significance of the day in India's military history.

In her address, Dr Nivedita emphasized the courage, sacrifice, and patriotism displayed by the armed forces and urged everyone to remember and honour their contribution in safeguarding the nation's sovereignty.

The event was attended by officers and officials under the district administration of Imphal East.

A two-minute silence was observed in remembrance of the fallen heroes.

Moreover, Sainik School Imphal solemnly observed Kargil Vijay Diwas today to honour the bravery of Indian soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the Kargil War of 1999.During the event, Sainik School Imphal's Principal Col A Rajiv, along with Vice Principal Lt Col Satish Kumar Singh and Administrative Officer Sqn Ldr Sachin Kumar, paid floral tributes at the school's Martyrs' Pillar.

The ceremony was attended by staff and cadets, who stood in solemn silence to honor the supreme sacrifice of the martyrs.

It is pertinent to note that Col A Rajiv, is a Kargil War veteran who fought the war as part of First Naga Regiment.

The tribute was followed by the rendition of the National Anthem, echoing the spirit of patriotism and unity.

School captain Cdt Sinam Alex delivered a talk on 'Kargil War" and Col A Rajiv shared his experiences with the cadets.

A patriotic movie, "Shershah", was also screened for the cadets in the evening in the Vikram Batra Auditorium followed by a celebratory dinner.

The observance aimed to instill a deep sense of respect, courage, and national pride among the cadets.

Notably, this day marks the 26th anniversary of India's victory over Pakistan in the conflict and the successful conclusion of Operation Vijay.

During this operation, the Indian Armed Forces reclaimed territories in the Kargil district of Jammu and Kashmir that had been infiltrated by Pakistani soldiers and militants.
