BJP conducts membership drive at Ukhrul

Ukhrul, July 25 2019: To strengthen and expand the saffron party, BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) today organised membership drive for Ukhrul and Kamjong district at Shimva Community Hall, Awontang in Ukhrul.

During a meeting held before the membership drive, P Mark Luithing, the lone BJP Councillor from Ukhrul stressed the need for enrolment of more members in Ukhrul.

Urging the intending candidates for ADC election 2020 to take lead initiative at all levels, he said that any person contesting the election with BJP ticket should possess unwavering qualities to lead the party.

NPF is main rival of the BJP in the ADC election.

BJP's victory at the grassroot level will bring tangible and equal development in the district and ensure its success in the next Assembly elections, he said.

Speaking at the event, BJP ex-MP candidate Benjamin Mate expressed gratitude to the Tangkhul community for their immense contributions.

Ukhrul district has produced two 'efficient' Chief Ministers in the past.

BJP expects same leaders from Tangkhul community in the coming years, he said.

Premananda Meitei Sangathan Mantri highlighted the main objectives of the membership drives being conducted across the country.

It is to prove the strength of saffron party, he said and informed that all BJP members have to renew their memberships in the party again.

BJP has seen atleast 20 % increased in membership and is an indicative of the rising popularity of the saffron party, he said.

P Somorjit president Yuva Morcha and Sharda Devi National vice president Mahila Mandal emphasized on the need for collective participation of all party workers to fulfil the goals of the saffron party.

Ex-MLA candidate Somatai Shaiza who is also co-convener of Membership Drive Committee Manipur State BJP, senior members, party worker and over 250 supporters including womenfolk participated in the drive.
