Workshop on 21st Livestock Census held

The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying organised a one-day workshop to ensure coordinated and efficient approach to the upcoming 21st Livestock Census scheduled during September-December 2024 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi today.
Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh inaugurated the workshop today as the chief guest.
The mobile application developed for 21st Livestock Data collection was also launched by the Union Minister in the workshop.
Notably, RK Khogendrajit, Director, Manipur Animal Husbandry Services also attended the workshop which was conducted to strategize and empower the States and Union Territories (UTs) for preparation of 21st Livestock Census.
Professor SP Singh Baghel and George Kurian, Ministers of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying were also present.
Resource persons will be mobilized in the months of July and August and the four-month long census will be carried out after completing all empowerment activities.
Another session will be conducted in January of next year in Delhi to discuss the data gained from the census operation.
Following this, a session report will be published around February-March, 2025 .
The workshop included detailed sessions on the methodologies and guidelines for the 21st Livestock Census, training on the mobile application and dashboard software and an open house discussion for addressing queries and concerns.
