Imphal, February 24 2025:
Amid calls from various comers to allocate an examination centre for the AIIMS Common Recruitment Examination (CRE) in Imphal, the Assistant Controller (Exams), AIIMS, New Delhi has informed that adjusting all candidates to Manipur is not feasible at this stage given the logistical constraints, operationally and in adherence to established protocols to conduct safe and secure examination.
In a letter addressed to Mecolt Rajkumar Singh, Deputy Director (Admn) of RIMS, Imphal, the Assistant Controller (Exams), AIIMS, New Delhi said that the CRE-2024 is conducted for Group 'B & C' posts at various participating Institutes and Government Hospitals under the Central Government.
"The posts have been consolidated into 66 distinct groups to streamline the application process for eligible candidates.
The examination is scheduled to be held in one shift per group via computer-based tests (CBT) between February 26 and 28, 2025" it added.
The letter pointed out that at the time of registration, candidates were provided the option to select three (3) preferred States for the examination.
"They were also informed that if a centre was unavailable in their chosen states, an alternative city elsewhere in India might be allocated", it added.
The letter also highlighted that in the North-Eastern region, a total of 16 examination centres have been allocated, of which three are located in Manipur.
Approximately 6,800 candidates selected Manipur as their first preference, while also indicating two additional state choices for their preferred examination centre.
Based on centre availability, around 5,900 candidates have been accommodated in one of their three preferred choices, where nearly 4,000 candidates have been assigned to the nearby centre in Guwahati.
"Due to the overwhelming number of applications and the subsequent challenge of securing safe and secure examination centres, it has become necessary to reallocate some candidates to nearby States where centres are available.
All candidates have been informed of their State and city of examination well in advance, allowing them sufficient time to arrange for travel", it added.
Also, the Assistant Controller (Exams), AIIMS mentioned that the requests for centre changes from pregnant women and accident cases have been duly considered, with allocations made to their requested preferred city upon submission of appropriate documentary proof.
"Given the logistical constraints, operationally and in adherence to established protocols to conduct safe and secure examination, adjusting all candidates to Manipur is not feasible under evolving situations at this stage", it added.
Furthermore, the Assistant Controller (Exams), AIIMS appreciated the understanding and support of the RIIMS authority in this matter to enable conducting secure and fair examination in a time bound manner.
