Imphal, October 23 2010: Widow of a deceased soldier of Army Supply Corps (ASC) has accused the State Government of deviating from an earlier assurance to provide her Government job.

speaking to newspersons at Manipur Press Club today, Aphuna Goimei w/o (L) Robert G contended that she was promised a suitable Government job on many occasion but to no avail till date.

Robert G, a soldier of the ASC, was killed along with his mother in-law Ph Ginthailiu Gangmei when unidentified persons torched the passenger bus they were travelling on at Lahorijan area under Khatkhati police station of Assam on October 23, 2008 .

In connection with the gruesome killing and seeking justice, family members of the deceased ASC soldier and Ginthailiu Gangmei have submitted representations to the State authorities, including the Chief Minister O ibobi Singh, Tribal Development Minister DD Thaisii, MPCC president Gaikhangam and Member of Hill Areas Committee Khangthuanang Panmei, Aphuna recounted.

She also reminded that apart from atleast six formal complaints to the State authorities in between November 2008 to September 2010, protest demonstrations were staged at different locations under the banner of JAC against Brutal Killing of Robert G and Ph Ginthailiu Gangmei.

Grievances of the bereaved families seemed to have stirred conscience of the Government as information was relayed through State officials to appear in the interview for recruitment of teachers under Autonomous District Council, Aphuna maintained.

However, when the DPC result of the interview conducted under the Tamenglong ADC was declared Aphuna Gonmei was left.

observing that such callousness by the State Government is akin to rubbing salt to wound, Aphuna further expressed that lack of initiative to address grievances of the bereaved families even after three years of distress and sorrow reflects inhumane side of the State authorities.

While Aphuna detailed her struggle in bringing up two children after the loss of the family bread winner, Robert's elder brother Athui Goimei said a fresh memorandum was submitted to the Chief Minister today to initiate necessary action at the earliest.

He asserted that in case no positive response is given by the Government there will be no further communication with the State authorities.
