Imphal, November 21 2018:
The Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) Manipur, has demanded the authority concerned to extend the deadline of the notification which was issued by the Deputy Resident Commissioner (DRC) of Kolkata Manipur Bhavan on November 6 for recruitment of some staff (LDC/office assistant/receptionist/driver/multi-tasking staff/sweeper) on a daily wage basis by at least 10 days as well as to take up necessary disciplinary actions against the said DRC for alleged unethical and corrupt practice concerning the recruitment notice.
A press release issued by the co-convenor (media and information) of JCILPS today mentioned that on November 6, Kolkata Manipur Bhavan DRC (Senior) SM Devi Roy issued a notification for the recruitment of some staff of the Bhavan on a daily wage basis.
However, many raised complaints that the notice was issued in a hush manner and when JCILPS investigated the matter, it was found that the notice was served to only the Under Secretary (GAD) Manipur and its notice board and not to any of the news media.
The notice also mentioned that the last date of submitting necessary application was November 12, an impossible feat for the people of Manipur to meet even if the information had been dispersed through the news media, JCILPS claimed adding that such corrupt and unethical practice at a time when the people of the State are reeling under the impact of mass unemployment, is a serious issue.
Demanding stern disciplinary action against the involved DRC, JCILPS claimed that the majority of the staff at the Manipur Bhavans at Kolkata, Guwahati and Delhi, are non Manipuris which lead to immense inconvenience when people go to these establishments.
Moreover, when foreign tourists visit the country and go to such places for obtaining information on Manipur and its culture etc, the staff present cannot provide proper details as they basically lack ample knowledge about the State, JCILPS reasoned.
As such JCILPS demanded the authority concerned to ensure the extension of the deadline of the recruitment by at least 10 days, apart from demanding disciplinary action against the DRC of Kolkata Manipur Bhavan.
