HC summons security top brasses

Imphal, January 20 2017:
A full bench of the High Court of Manipur has directed Manipur Police DGP, CRPF DIG, IGAR(S), GOC57 Mountain Division and BSF DIG (Counter Insurgency Operation) to appear before the Court at 10.30am of January 23 .
Acting on a PIL filed last year, the full bench comprising of Chief Justice Rakesh Ranjan Prasad, Justice N Kotiswar and Justice Kh Nobin issued a directive to this effect today.
In compliance with a Court order issued on January 16, a meeting of the Combined Headquarters (CHQs) was held yesterday and the minutes of the meeting were placed before the Court today by the Advocate General in a sealed cover.
In order to get the economic blockade lifted, the CHQs meeting identified 32 vulnerable points where AR/Army/CRPF personnel are required to be deployed.
Further, 25 other area the State Police should take care of have also been identified.
After perusing the minutes of the CHQs meeting, the Court opined that the exercise of deploying Army/AR/CRPF personnel shall be left open to the Manipur Police DGP, CRPF DIG, IG AR (S), GOC 57 Mountain Division and BSF DIG (Counter Insurgency Operation) .
The matter has been listed for the next round of hearing on January 23 (10.30 am) .
