134th birth anniversary celebration of Laininghan Naoria Phulo organised

Imphal, August 19 2022: The 134th birth anniversary celebration of Laininghan Naoria Phulo was held yesterday at Meetei Shanglen, head office of Meetei Marup at Wangkhei Thambalkhong yesterday.

President of Meetei Marup (Meetei Leipak), Nongthombam Mangi Meetei; MLA of Keirao Assembly Constituency, L Rameshor Meetei; Upa Adhyaksha of Imphal East, Kshetri Tama; Pradhan of Thambalkhong, Koijam Roma; Advisor of Meetei Marup, Mangsatabam Ibomcha Meetei; Purel Apokpa Marup, Mutum Jati and president of Meitei Leepun, Mayengbam Pramodchand graced the event which was organised by Meetei Marup as the presidium members, said a press release by Meetei Marup.

The event started off with the hoisting of seven coloured flag of Meetei Marup and lighting the ceremonial lights.

Thereafter the attendees paid floral tributes to the photo of Laininghan Naoria Phulo.

L Rameshor Meetei while speaking at the occasion, called for collective efforts to revive the indigenous traditions and strive for a unified society.

He also lauded the Lamlai Assembly Constituency MLA K Ibomcha for raising the appeal to get a religion code of Sanamahi Laining which has been suppressed for years during the recently held State Assembly monsoon session.

He highlighted the need to make unified efforts to get a religion code before the upcoming census.

Mayengbam Pramodchand expressed the need to appeal to the relevant authorities to declare the birth anniversary of Laininghan Naoria Phulo who made earnest efforts for the upliment of Meetei/Meitei society as a State or restricted holiday to honour him at the State level.

The other dignitaries also spoke on the life and contributions of Laininghan Naoria Phulo, added the release.
