NPF condemns Ukhrul ambush

Imphal, April 19 2026: The Manipur State Unit of the Naga People's Front (NPF) has said it is appalled by the barbaric, heinous and cold-blooded killing of the two innocent civilians by suspected armed Kuki militants on the NH-202 .

"In the mindless, merciless and indiscriminate firing reported from the western hillside of Yaolen (Patleijang) Kuki hamlet, two innocents Sw Chinaoshang of Tashar village and Yaruingam Vashum of Kharasom village lost their lives," said the NPF in a statement.

"This diabolical cold-blooded murder bereft of morality and ethics only exposes the depravity and criminality of the perpetrators".

It was an attempt to destabilise peaceful co-existence of communities, the NPF said.

"We firmly believe that violence will not bring solution nor defeat the collective will of the people to live in peace, dignity and harmony," it said, demanding justice and prompt punishment to establish rule of law.

NPF MSU is committed to the safety of peace-loving citizens and restoration of normalcy in the State, it said, extending condolences and prayers to the bereaved families.

"We earnestly appeal for reason, restraint and unequivocally condemn the gun culture which abet violence in the State," it added.
