'UNC ready for meeting'

Imphal, September 18 2026: The United Council (UNC) is ever ready to hold a tripartite meeting with the Central Ministry of Home Affairs and Government of Manipur, said its president Ng Lorho.

Speaking to this paper, the leader of the Naga apex body said the tripartite meeting when materialised will discuss the current crisis including the law and order situation in the State.

If the Government is serious enough, the UNC is ever ready for the meeting, he said.

He recalled that an earlier proposal for the meeting on August 3 didn't materialise as the day coincided with the anniversary of the Framework Agreement.

Even though the day was the anniversary of the signing of the Framework Agreement, Lorho recalled that the UNC had then urged for the meeting to be held in Senapati instead of the proposed place of meeting at Imphal.

Afterwards, the UNC has not received any proposal.

If the Government is serious enough and wants to hold the meeting, the UNC is ready, Lorho added.
