Kangpokpi, June 18 2026:
In a move seen as part of its efforts to strengthen grassroots political structures ahead of future electoral and organizational challenges in Manipur, the National People's Party (NPP) has announced a fresh round of appointments to the National People's Youth Front (NPYF), appointing key office-bearers across several districts, including the politically significant hill districts.
The appointments, approved by NPP National President Nickey Nongkhlaw and issued through the NPYF Manipur unit, are aimed at bolstering the party's youth machinery and expanding its organizational reach across the state.
Under the new appointments, Aduoo Dominic Paotsina has been named General Secretary (Political) of the NPYF Manipur State Executive, a position expected to play a crucial role in coordinating the youth wing's political activities and outreach programmes.
The party also announced district-level appointments covering several strategic districts.
In Kangpokpi district, a key political battleground in the hill areas, Dr David Paoginsei has been appointed President, while Lalginsei Lhouvum will serve as General Secretary (Organisation).
For Churachandpur and Pherzawl districts, Paul Zabiekrem has been appointed President and Immanuel Hmingsanglur as General Secretary (Organisation).
The NPYF also named Adv.
SP Thaongaolou as President of its Senapati district unit, while HB Molarrhing and Tongsin Newry Anal have been appointed President and General Secretary (Organisation), respectively, for Chandel and Tengnoupal districts.
In Kakching district, Elangbam Herojit Singh has been appointed President and Thoinao Ahongshangbam as Secretary.
Political observers view the appointments as a significant attempt by the NPP to consolidate its youth base across both hill and valley districts at a time when Manipur continues to witness intense political realignments and heightened public engagement over governance, security and ethnic issues.
The expansion of the youth wing is expected to provide the party with a stronger organizational presence at the grassroots level, particularly in districts where youth participation is increasingly shaping political discourse and electoral outcomes.
