Imphal, April 18 2026:
Demanding justice for the deadly terror attack at Trongloabi, which claimed the lives of two siblings, as well as for the CRPF firing that resulted in the deaths of three individuals and left several others injured, a sit-in protest was held today at Wangkhei Angom Leikai.
The protest was organised by the Women's Social Welfare Association (WSWA), Wangkhei Angom Leikai under the supervision of Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI).
Speaking to the media, WSWA president Okram Nandibala urged the Government to arrest and punish all those responsible for the killings.
She stated that the protest was held in solidarity with COCOMI's movement, which is demanding justice for the victims.
Nandibala also condemned the use of excessive force by Central and State security forces against peaceful protesters.
Saying that many protesters have been injured due to the firing of tear gas shells, mock bombs etc by the security forces, Nandibala stressed that security forces should instead protect peaceful demonstrators.
She warned that the continued misuse of force would only fuel more intense movements in the future.
