Tilak Poudel remembered on 11th Martyrdom Anniversary

The All Manipur Gorkha Student's Union (AMGSU) solemnly observed the 11th Martyrdom Day of Tilak Poudel, who laid down his life in police action during a mass agitation on April 18, 2014 at Kanglatongbi, in protest against the rape of a minor Gorkha girl.
To honor his supreme sacrifice, a candlelight vigil and floral tribute were paid to his portrait at the Kanglatongbi Mandir Waiting shed, said AMGSU in a release.
The commemoration event was attended by several dignitaries and well-wishers, including Meena Bista, chairperson Kanglatongbi Gram Panchayat, Rudra Prasad Oli and Dilip Karki, members of Kanglatongbi GP, LB Adhikari, president of AMGSU, Sitaram Kafle, advisor AMGSU, Shiva Kumar Basnet, former pradhan, Kanglatongbi GP, Mani Kumar Limbu, principal of Roses English High School, Prem Prasad Shivakoti, principal of Senapati Govt Hr Sec School, LB Basnet, former president, Nepali Sahitya Parishad Manipur, Ravi Kumar Uprety, VP Nepali Sahitya Parishad Manipur, representatives from MGWU, members of AMGSU Central Committee, advisors and units from Kanglatongbi and Motbung, representatives from the Women Societies Shantipur & Vijaynagar, family members of Tilak Poudel, Bhim Bahadur Karki, survivor who sustained critical injuries during the 2024 agitation, other prominent figures and local residents.
As part of its annual tradition, AMGSU and its units remain committed to honoring the legacy of Martyr Tilak Poudel, reflecting the enduring respect and remembrance of his sacrifice, said a statement of AMGSU.
AMGSU also extended its heartfelt gratitude to the civil society organisations of the State, that stood in solidarity during the struggle for justice for the victim's family.
The Union also salutes the 26 brave individuals from Kanglatongbi and Kalapahar who sustained injuries during the agitation.
