State authority seeks cooperation of all for success of Mission Indradhanush

State Nodal Officer (Immunisation), Directorate of Family Welfare, Dr Thokchom Nandakishore has urged all concerned to extend cooperation towards ensuring full immunization of children under the age of two years as well as pregnant women against preventable diseases under Mission Indradhanush for ahealthy society.
In a chat with The Sangai Express, Dr Th Nandakishore said that Mission Indradhanush was launched by the Centre on Dec 25, 2014.The State Health Minister Phungzathang Tonsing launched the Mission on April 7 this year at Churachandpur.
Immunisation programme was taken out in Churachandpur, Senapati, Tamenglong and Ukhrul district under the first phase of Mission Indradhanush, he said.
67 pc of children and pregnant women of Churachandpur district were vaccinated while 34 pc of children and pregnant mother of Tamenglong district were vaccinated in the first phase.
In Senapati district, 48 pc of children and pregnant women covered while in Ukhrul 35 pc of children and pregnant women vaccinated against various preventable diseases under the Mission, he said.
Union Health Minister JP Nadda launched the second phase of the immunisation programme on Oct 5 this year.
Subsequently, the second phase of the programme was launched in the State by Health Director O Ibomcha and Family Welfare Director K Rajo on Oct 8 .
Bishnupur, Chandel, Thoubal and Imphal East districts will be covered in the second phase.
Dr Nandakishore said.
Local bodies will be engaged for the successful implementation of the programme, he added.
