Imphal, April 17 2025:
BJP MLA Thongam Biswajit has stated that an elected or representative Government will be re-installed in the State once peace is restored.
He was speaking at the opening ceremony of Yonex-Sunrise 69th State Open Badminton Championship 2025 at Manipur State Badminton Association's Indoor Stadium where he also inaugurated a gym.
Biswajit said that peace is returning to the State gradually.
Manipur would be hosting a zonal level badminton championship for the North East region.
This would not be possible if there is no peace in the State, he said.
Saying that the Government of India has taken up several steps to restore peace completely in the State, he appealed to all the communities to support the peace initiatives.
"Even if there had been grievances and ill-will against each other, we must bury all hatchets and focus on restoring peace in the State for we are one and destined to live together", Biswajit said.
Responding to a query raised by media persons if the MLAs of the State are doing anything to form an elected Government after President's Rule has been imposed for over two months, Biswajit maintained that he would not like to give any direct comment on the matter.
How President's Rule was imposed in the State is known to all.
It is also a fact that people want an elected Government, he said.
An elected Government will come on its own once there is peace in the State, he asserted.
To another query on MLAs turning their attention to election campaigns instead of focusing on restoration of peace, Biswajit said that they will reap what they sow.
He added that mending a broken article needs time and material.
Saying that positive results will come, he appealed to all the people to wait for such a tiding.
