Imphal, August 16 2025:
Shirley Roy, a native of Manipur, has been reappointed to support the Embassy of India in Bangkok's community outreach in Thailand, focusing on diaspora engagement, cultural programs, and practical assistance to community members when needed.
Having lived in Thailand since 2017, Shirley Roy has been instrumental in providing assistance to Northeast Indians, particularly through her role as general secretary of the North East Indian Society (NEIS) .
Recently, she played a key role in organising the NEIS concert in Bangkok on August 9, featuring singer Alobo.
The event was attended by over 70 members of the Indian community, including the Ambassador of India to Thailand, his spouse, and senior Embassy officials.
A highlight was the group's dedication of the song "Pyaar Ke Pal" to the Ambassador and his wife.
Shirley also successfully coordinated a community fundraiser to support a widow following her husband's sudden illness, raising more than 300 percent of its target amount.
Additionally, she served as a point of contact for concerned families after tremors from the Myanmar earthquake were felt in Bangkok, and provided an interview to Impact News.
"I am grateful for the continued trust.
My goal is to be useful and reachable, helping our community feel supported, connected, and informed", said Shirley.
