A one-day sensitisation programme on present market scenario of life saving drugs in Manipur held at Khuman Lampak Youth Centre here today has mooted, among others, setting up of a drug testing laboratory in the State.
Organised under the main auspices of Manipur Health Mission, the sensitisation programme was inaugurated by Director of Health Services Dr Th Suresh as chief guest and president of Manipur Chemist and Druggist Association N Saratkumar as functional president.
Other resolutions adopted include exerting pressures on the State Government to take up the demand for setting up of a drug testing laboratory in Manipur with the Central Government, making it compulsory for all the outside-based drug companies to get permission from the Directorate of Health Services of the State Government for selling its products in Manipur, urging the doctors to identify the status and the track record of the companies before prescribing the drugs manufactured by them and to prevent chemists from supplying drugs other than the ones prescribed by the doctors.
During the technical session of the programme, Dr RK Bhanupati, Dr Y Subhalakshmi, N Remodkumar and Dr Ratankumar spoke on different topics as resource persons.
