Imphal, November 15 2008: Two suspected underground activists were gunned down by Imphal West District Police Commandos during an encounter which reportedly took place just beyond the southern wall of Manipur University campus here at around 4.30 pm today.

According to police report, the encounter broke out near Langthabal Chingkha Kabui Khul which is located beyond the southern wall of the Manipur University campus.

One .38 pistol loaded with a live round in its chamber, one US made carbine, two magazines and three rounds of ammunition have been recovered from the possession of the two slain UG suspects whose identities are yet to be established.

The bodies have been picked up and kept at the mortuary of RIMS Hospital.
